Tbilisi Hosted the Fifth Biennial Silk Road Forum Under the Patronage of Georgia’s Prime Minister
GCC , 7th November ,2025
The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum has become an effective instrument for regional and global cooperation, where ideas are transformed into real projects, stated Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia during his keynote speech delivered at the opening of the forum.
According to the Head of Government, it is symbolic that the forum is held in Georgia – a country that has historically been and remains a bridge connecting Eastern and Western civilizations.
“For centuries, along the Silk Road, which connected our countries, not only trade but also culture, ideas and progress moved. Today, in the era of global transformations, facing new challenges and, at the same time, opportunities, the idea of the historic Silk Road takes on a completely new, key significance. The main theme of this year’s forum – Invest in Connectivity, Grow in Stability – responds to these new challenges,” stated the Head of Government of Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the forum’s slogan precisely reflects Georgia’s state policy.
“Today, as the world is reassessing traditional trade routes and supply chains, and seeking new routes, our efforts are focused on ensuring and strengthening peace. This is a necessary condition to make Georgia a strong axis in the region’s economic and logistics center. We believe that peace, stability and predictability are the main equity we can offer to our partners and investors,” stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.
In his keynote speech, Irakli Kobakhidze also highlighted the proactive foreign policy of the Government of Georgia.
“We have free trade agreements (FTA) with both the European Union and China, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the region. We are implementing large-scale infrastructure projects – building new ports, modernizing railways, creating digital and energy corridors, such as the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project, which will connect the region’s renewable energy to the European market. All of this creates unique opportunities for business,” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze thanked the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as high-ranking delegates, for their participation in the forum.
At the opening event of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, speeches were given by Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, which Georgia is hosting for the fifth time, is attended by around 2000 political and business leaders from over 60 countries around the world.
