Spider-Man™: No Way Home Swings its way from the Burj Khalifa to theatres across the region

Dubai, UAE, December 2021: Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home officially landed across cinemas on December 16 grossing $4.1 million and becoming the #5 opening weekend of all-time in the region. The opening day follows the movie web-swinging its way from the world’s tallest building with a spectacular projection of the trailer on December 14 and an immersive premiere on December 15, successfully mounted by Empire International, the exclusive theatrical distributor of Sony Pictures and Columbia Pictures in the Middle East, Reel Cinemas by Emaar. 

Staying true to the film’s theme, excited fans at the premiere — held at Reel Cinemas at The Dubai Mall – were welcomed by a state-of-the-art hologram installation recreating the Multiverse portal and a swarm of paparazzi on the red carpet pursuing attendees and giving them a glimpse of the life of the exposed superhero. 

Record-breaking ticket sales for the opening weekend

The Middle East earned $14M with Saudi Arabia at $5.2M and Egypt at $1.3M, launching to the biggest opening ever and the UAE providing $4.1M, making it the #5 opening weekend of all-time in the region.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.

Spider-Man™: No Way Home has been rated PG-12 in KSA, PG in Kuwait and Lebanon, G in Egypt and PG-13 for the rest of the region by the Motion Picture Association. The film is now playing exclusively in cinemas.
